Miller Lumber is deeply rooted in Central Oregon’s history

History

Our Story

Miller Lumber has evolved from horse-drawn lumber wagons to a modern fleet of flatbeds supplying materials for entire subdivisions. For over a century, Miller Lumber has proudly served the region, witnessing the growth of Bend alongside its own legacy.

In 1911, three pioneering associates, including Harry A. (Ham) Miller, founded the Overturf, Davis, Miller Company. After two years in business, the company became Miller Lumber under Ham’s sole ownership. Over the decades, Miller Lumber expanded to become Central Oregon’s largest building supplier, earning recognition such as the Bend Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award in 2006.

Bill Miller, Ham’s son, assumed company presidency in 1966, following a distinguished career that included service as a Navy fighter pilot in World War II and education at Stanford University. Under Bill’s leadership, Miller Lumber established itself as a cornerstone of the community, offering not only quality lumber but also financing options for home construction.

Throughout its history, Miller Lumber has adapted to the changing needs of Central Oregon, from logging and milling to retail and wholesale distribution. Branches were established in Prineville, Redmond, and Madras, reflecting the company’s commitment to serving a growing region.

In 2022, Miller Lumber entered a new phase of its journey by joining Kodiak Building Partners, further solidifying its position as a leader in the industry. Led by President Willie Hertford, today, the company remains dedicated to providing exceptional service and quality products to its customers, ensuring that Miller Lumber’s legacy continues for generations to come.
